GULFSCAPES MAGAZINE named Surfside Beach as the #1 Beach Community in Texas

In both 2010 and 2011 GULFSCAPES MAGAZINE’s readers voted Surfside as being the #1 Beach Town in Texas and one of the top two for the entire Gulf Coast.

Surfside Beach received more votes than any of the following, much larger beach communities:

Galveston, Rockport, Port Aransas, Corpus Christi, or Padre Island in Texas

Destin, Naples, Fort Walton, Panama City, or Sarasota in Florida

Gulfport in Mississippi or Gulf Shores in Alabama

In 2010 Surfside was voted the #1 beach community on the entire Gulf Coast.

In 2011 Surfside swapped places with Pensacola, Fla. and they were #1, and Surfside was #2.

What was so special about Surfside?

The majority of the responders to GULFSCAPES’ poll said they liked that Surfside was such a nice place to take a family.
They liked that it wasn’t a “party beach.” Also receiving positive mention was the fishing and that Surfside had very little traffic even though it was near a large city.
