When you rent a Galveston beach house you are only 50 miles from Houston.
Galveston is the second easiest beach to get to. The easiest? Surfside Beach.
Time wise, a beach house in Surfside is closer than a beach house in Galveston.
Galveston Beach Houses vs. Beach Houses in Surfside
- There is considerably less traffic getting to a beach house in Surfside compared with getting to a Galveston beach house.

- Most Galveston beach houses are within a few blocks of the Gulf. Seventeen (of twenty-two) of our houses are on the first or second row.
- Nice beach houses in Surfside will cost less to rent than equally nice beach houses in Galveston. Plus,
- Hotel/motel taxes are 50% less for a Surfside beach house than for a Galveston beach house. This can add up.
For example, if your Galveston beach house rental is $899 you will pay a tax of $134.85. If the house is in Surfside, your tax would be $89.90.

If you want to take advantage of the reduced costs, traffic, and crowds of Surfside, but you want a beach house close to Galveston, we have an attractive compromise—the Buccaneer at Treasure Island.
