Surfside and its next door neighbors (Lake Jackson and Freeport) have several excellent places to dine.

Comments: Very casual – bathing suits and bare feet are ok. Inexpensive hamburgers, snacks and cold drinks.

Comments: Written up in Texas Monthly. Stuffed jalapenos and Crab Florentine are great.

Comments: Large, family friendly Tex-Mex restaurant.

Comments: Their Pig-in-a-blanket Kolache was named grand champion and their Cheesy Jalapeno-filled Kolache was reserve grand champion at the 2012 State of Texas Kolache Bake Show. Although the above two kolaches were judged the best in the state show, their best sellers are their cream cheese-filled and traditional fruit varieties. Only open Mon-Fri, 5:00-11:00 AM.

Comments: Cajun grilled shrimp, blackened catfish, and fried dill pickles are quite good.

At the intersection of Highway 332 and 288 (near Sears, Dillard’s, and Loews) is a large selection of restaurants, including: Luby’s, Chili’s, Red Lobster, Chick-fil-A, KFC, Popeye’s, Fuddruckers, IHOP, McDonald’s, Whataburger, pizza, etc.

Rotary Luncheons

Comments: Meets Tuesday at 12:00 at the Lake Jackson Civic Center. Has a huge shrimp boil every August that’s worthwhile attending.
